From the other side of my twenty first birthday, I say helloooo! :) T'was successful in that I: did not hurl, did not get a hang over, did not pass out, did not end up strangling Chester, Paul, OR Aunt Toni. In case you were wondering, three margaritas on the rocks, and no, I was not carded XD the new semester starts up next week D: Not that I'm not psyched to have more stuff to do right now, but I'm at the point where I want to skip the general education and just jumps straight to my nursing major material :| Also, not that happy to be dropping what I predict will be, oh, upwards of four hundred dollars, since the classes were a little over three hundred, and the books usually cost more than the classes, whyyyy. so someone posted an adorable, dialogue-free short that David Tennant was in, that I did not previously know existed, and I may have had a heart attack of cute. if you need a lift in your day, this is it: and finally a hearty HELLO to all the crazy awesome Doctor Who fans that friended me at the party post yesterday--you guys seriously rock and made my birthday ten times more wonderful! Things! Contemplating joining fandomsmash as the Fifth Doctor at the behest of my batmanboxers, even though I've never RPed before. It's a little scary, and I'm worried I won't be in character or that I won't recognize some people from other fandoms, aieeee. idk, idk, I'm thinking about it, but I like the idea of playing Five :D There's two vastly different parties planning to get me good and drunk tomorrow, but my uncle Paul has taken it upon himself to make plans without asking me first, so he gets it in his head that I'm coming with him and my uncle Chester, with John and Sam and possibly our friend Ryan Miller invited to come along, which is okay? Just no. One: Where does he get off making plans without me when it's my birthday? Two: How awkward is this going to be? Very -__- I can hardly be around my uncles because of sheer obnoxiousness, and I really just wanted this to be a young persons' night on the town. It's going to be uncomfortable, anything involving Paul usually is, but I'm also worried that he only made Chester come because Paul doesn't have a job and has the opportunity to get drunk on his brother's dime, and Chester is likely indifferent to my birthday. The whole situation has got me making this face: And because partly I'm indecisive and partly I don't want to offend anyone, I'm not going to say anything, and it'd be a pretty big dick move for me to exclude my uncles, of all people. But Sam is saying that when we go down and visit my dad this upcoming weekend, he says he'll take us all out to dinner so we can celebrate my brother's and my birthdays at the same time. Nevermind that I might want to go out with my friends at some point. My buddy Karen is already planning on taking me to Cheesecake Factory cuz she says they have delicious drinks. So if I get yummy drinks and cheesecake, consider me a happy girl :) Whoops, almost forgot to mention, I'm really in love with this painting of the Doctor. Seriously lovely work <3 Tags: boring real stuff, five is god, strap on your converse&save the universe Current Mood: uncomfortable

So um...I haven't updated since last year! I've been neglecting lj! I haven't shared tales of my wild NYE (can you hear the sarcasm??). Told of the amusement of working on NYD (while everyone else was sleeping off a hangover ¬_¬). Joined in on the Doctor Who angsting and squealing! Or spouted off about my latest books spending spree (this time at Oxfam, hey big spender!). And while all this would be so very interesting to you lot, it's getting late and I have a sore forefinger on my left hand. So I'll briefly tell of the uniquely stupid (to me) way of how I obtained this injury. I was at work, bright and early as usual, getting on with the first wave of post-Christmas demonic recalls. It was roughly 9am, I'd just finished my first one. I was labelling it up, ready to send off. I then decided to staple the recall sheet and the delivery sheet together. Bad idea. The stapler was open. So I went to push it together, ready to use, only I pushed it too hard and my finger. My stupid, idiotic, left forefinger, got in the damn way. My first thought was...'what?!' My second thought (well actually rather loud exclamation) was...'oh shit!' I then stood there, staring rather gormlessly, at this damn staple imbedded in the top of my finger. I should inagine my face drained of all colour somewhere now. And then my brain went...'Catherine, there's a fucking staple in your finger, get it out GET IT OUT!'. So I did. Immediately two thin, but rapid, streams of blood started slipping out of the two pinprick holes in my finger. So then I stood there, in the books stockroom, clutching my finger with my other hand, going 'ohshit ohshit.' Then I made a snap decision, flung myself at the stockroom door and fled through the Stationery department, probably looking utterly insane to any poor, unsuspecting earlybird customer. I stabbed the code in the door to get into the staff area, holding my rapidly reddening finger up high, like it was some martyr on a pedastool or something. I dashed through to the staffroom and shoved my finger under the tap. I stood there for a moment, just breathing, and then realised Isabelle, the cleaner, was in the room too, and she was staring at me like I had actually gone mad. I quickly told her what happened and she got me a plaster, bless. But dude! The pain at this point! It hadn't even hurt up until this point, and then bam! Motherfucking pain! So I'm fighting back tears and nausea and then Raye, my supervisor, comes in, and she doesn't even seem to realise at first, and then I tell her, and...she laughed. I know, right. She thought it was funny. Sadtimes. She was a little sympathetic in the end. But yeah, so I was in a world of pain for the rest of the day, but I carried on working 'cause I am awesome, ha! I even made it my mission to tell my story to as many people as possible, especially if they were eating at the time. Bonus points for green faces, haha. My one regret is that I took the staple out so quickly. Should have taken a damned photo. Or even videod my taking it out, ha. Yes, I am twelve. Okay, gonna finish there. Not really so brief, huh. Got kinda carried away, eheh ^^; Do need to stop 'cause the typing is hurting my stapled finger ;_; Current Location: Didsbury Current Mood: sore Current Music: Placebo - Running Up That Hill

I AM SO SORRY I'M SPAMMING EVERYONE TODAY, BUT SERIOUSLY, HOW ADORABLE IS THE ELEVENTH DOCTOR? ( cut, in case anyone is still living under a rock )THIS SHIT IS GOING TO BE EPIC. SHUT UP, THIS IS THE ONLY THING KEEPING ME HANGING ON AFTER TEN'S DEATH, OKAY? *clings* And Ten is finally encroaching on favorite Doctor territory. DEFINITELY a threat to usurp Five as my favorite. They're at least on even ground, but every time I rewatch his last ep, Ten keeps edging up higher and higher... okay, going back to depression. Writing this inbetween making peanut butter cookies and before Star Trek comes on, so it'll probably come off as very disjointed. Boxing Day was shitty, as usual. Spent a lot of it sulking like I was still a sulky teenager. But it's the family's fault, honest. Sunday was a bit better. Didn't really do a great deal though. Caught up on a load of telly, basically, lol. Today has been better still! Mum and I went to this secondhand bookshop called Sharston Books. Omg you guys! It was amazing! Like a huuuge building with floor to ceiling of books. Then, like, three outhouse type buildings (which were freezing!) with even more books in. Omg! it was so amazing! I bought four books, with the total coming to £6.25. Anne of Green Gables. A 1964 edition. Pretty good condition. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. 1957 edition. Pretty good condition. The Return of Sherlock Holmes. 1960 edition. Pretty good condition. and Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, which is nearly as good as new. Also, both the Sherlock Holmes books have 3/6 on the front, which just shows how old they are, hehe. Sooo awesome! I am so going back there in a couple months, lolol. Anyways, I'll finish there. Need to finish off my cookies and then watch Star Trek. Hee~ Work tomorrow, boo. Current Location: Didsbury Current Mood: busy Current Music: Bright Eyes - The Vanishing Act
